“When Sue and I decided to create our family the old-
fashioned way–that is with sperm and egg and no
medical intervention–we only had one problem.”

Memory into Memoir: An Anthology  2016

Pamela Helberg is working on her memoir, an intimate look
at what happens when the Perfect Lesbian Family falls apart,
a story by turns humorous and heartbreaking. Her essays have
been published in the anthologies Beyond Belief: The Secret
Lives of Women in Extreme Religion (Seal Press, 2013) and Untangling
the Knot: Queer Voices on Marriage, Relationships,
and Identity (Ooligan Press 2015). She received her MA in Creative
Writing from Western Washington University many years
ago and is currently working on her master’s degree in mental
health counseling at Antioch University in Seattle. She enjoys
running, kayaking, writing haikus, and hanging out with her
writing buddies. She lives in Bellingham, Washington, and blogs
somewhat regularly at pamelahelberg.com.
